Fulfilling his childhood dream, Derik Malone enrolls into the Canadian Armed Forces to join the infantry unit. Due to his endurance, persistence and determination, Derik Malone becomes all he can be and finds that his mental and physical strength has made him one of the military's finest and well-respected assets. Things take a sharp turn for Malone when he and his men are informed they will be deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan. His understanding lover Maryana knew the day would come when the military would send Malone and his men into Afghanistan, but she becomes outraged when plans of returning home after their long and difficult tour in Kandahar have been postponed. Especially given the situation she is in. Derik Malone finds himself in a dilemma between his two choices Either to return back home to his loved ones, or accept a final mission which means saving four Canadian soldiers. He realizes his commitment is to two different parties and there will be significant consequences regardless of whichever choice he makes. Is it an act of love or an act of character which will influence his decision? Perhaps it may be a bit of both.
