Mandy and James are excited to help with a team of mustangs and a rock video, but must nurse the lead horse, Cougar, back to health after he develops a strange, life-threatening illness.

It's the summer holidays and the residents of Welford are spending a week in London seeing the sights. In the crowds of tourists Mandy and James notice a small chocolate brown Labrador puppy. Walking in Green Park later that day, they spot the puppy again. It turns out that animal writer Laura Dawson has lost three identical Labrador puppies.

SCPA inspector Danny Davies invites Mandy and James to spend a week with him and his beagle, Sasha, at the SPCA hospital in London, where they witness many animal emergencies, including one involving Danny's beloved Sasha.
