Why should we save America's wilderness areas? True and lasting protection for wilderness areas, professor Jo Arney argues, will be borne out of a shared understanding of the answer to this question. Wilderness and the Common Good attempts to provide an answer by examining how wilderness and its preservation enriches all of our lives.

Jo Arney is an associate professor of political science and public administration at the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse. She is also a lead scholar in the creation of a stewardship of public lands course being developed by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities.
