Summaries and Reviews
Amazon.com description: Product Description: They are all there. Spread across the Web pages. Caught in a family net that holds them firmly in line. No risk of losing their places. One is a grandson, another a nephew. I was a daughter, and this book is about my immediate family, and the family of my childhood. It is about our joyous childhood journeys around Britain. It is about a war which encompassed us all, and it is about peace, and my wanderings across a once war-torn Europe ending finally in Australia. My father was the one who started the family. At least, that is what I thought as a child, and then all the others before him impressed themselves upon my awareness. Of course, there was my mother, and her family, and the parents of my father. Then there was my husband, and all the folk who led to his beginning. He made my life complete and we started our own small tree. England was our joy and our starting point, but from there our wanderings encircled Europe. The wanderings of other family members encircled the globe and gathered into the family web all those other nationalities, which have made us a truly international family. I realised that there was no way in which I could determine the start of this family. Now I look at the many names, each, perhaps, the start of another branch, and I know that I shall never know the end of this vital flowering tree. The tree will live on. The flowers, like the ones I have always loved, will fall, but they will be replaced by others, to carry the seed on into the future, and across the world. Where our tree eventually falls, others will grow.
