Summaries and Reviews
Amazon.com description: Product Description: Bill Lehmann, an award-winning newspaper columnist, became a newspaperman straight out of high school and went on to become manager and publisher of several other newspapers in Oklahoma. "After the Parade" is his recollection of the newspaper business and of characters he got to know in Laredo, Ponca City, Pawhuska, and Guthrie during his days behind the news desk. History has always been Lehmann’s passion, so the book includes history he has written of places he’s lived and characters he’s met or is related to, more than one of them a murderer. After his newspaper days, he was tempted to try his hand at becoming an oil man. The book contains some stories about the oil boom and bust in Oklahoma during the 1970s and 80s. Throughout all these years and endeavors, he was also a musician, having learned to play the guitar as a teenager and sitting in on several bands throughout his life at more than a few honkytonks in Oklahoma. The book includes character sketches of several musicians he met along the way. "After the Parade" is a collection of stories and character sketches, of history and mystery, covering the 1950’s Oklahoma into the next century. Lehmann’s sense of humor and attention to detail make this book a great read for anyone interested in Oklahoma history during the latter half of the twentieth century
