The new editions can be found by following these links: Don Quixote Part 1 of 3: In Spanish and English => http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/149748765X/garrphotgall-20 Don Quixote Part 2 of 3: In Spanish and English => http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1497568544/garrphotgall-20 Don Quixote Part 3 of 3: In Spanish and English => http://www.amazon.com/Don-Quixote-Part-Spanish-English/dp/1499165501 This is a dual-language edition of the classic novel "Don Quixote", in the original Spanish by Cervantes and the translation by John Ormsby. The novel "Don Quixote" is over four hundred years old (first appearing in 1605, fifteen years prior to the Mayflower reaching the shores of Massachusetts), yet it is still alive and "fresh" today. According to wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miguel_Cervantes), Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra (usually known as Miguel de Cervantes), the author of "The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha" (typically abbreviated to simply "Don Quixote"), was born in 1547 in Spain and died in the land of his birth at the age of 68, in 1616. He "was a Spanish novelist, poet, and playwright. His magnum opus, Don Quixote, considered to be the first modern European novel, is a classic of Western literature, and is regarded amongst the best works of fiction ever written. His influence on the Spanish language has been so great that the language is often called la lengua de Cervantes ("the language of Cervantes"). He was dubbed El Príncipe de los Ingenios ("The Prince of Wits")." Russian author Fyodor Dostoyevsky called Don Quixote "the ultimate and most sublime work of human thinking." Samuel "Mark Twain" Clemens admitted that his most-revered work, "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" was based on -- or at least heavily influenced by -- this satirical picaresque novel by Cervantes. Ernest Hemingway opined that American literature began with "Huck Finn"; thus, we can trace a literary lineage flowing from Cervantes to Twain to Hemingway and onwards. Considering the above, it is fitting that a native English speaker wanting to learn Spanish (beyond the basic phrases revolving around bathrooms and beer, as well as conversational necessities such as "how are you", "what is your name?" etc.) would want to read Don Quixote in its original language*. This edition allows for that, with the Spanish on each left-facing page, along with the English translation by John Ormsby on the right (his British spellings have been replaced with American spelling; e.g., “favour” becomes “favor” etc.). * Of course, a native Spanish speaker wanting to learn English could use this volume to the same end.

About: “Quixotic” is a word that the dictionary defines as “extravagantly chivalrous or romantic; visionary…” and that is a fitting definition, indeed, for this charming retelling of Don Quixote, the 17th century Spanish classic by Miguel de Cervantes, now updated for the modern reader.
