Amazon.com description: Product Description: Introduction from the Author

Why attend the University of Kansas? The school is in the middle of some remote hayfield—right? In order for prospective students to better understand KU and its rich traditions, they must realize that the University of Kansas is quite different than the stereotypes of the state in which it is located. KU sits high atop the hill with a view of Lawrence, Kansas and its 80,000 residents. The hilly landscape, large trees, and historic buildings provide a true college atmosphere. The city of Lawrence surrounds the University and is supported by over 20,000 college students. From every point of view, KU offers all of the features of a great college.

Since 1864, KU has been home to students looking for a quality education and a place to experience the college life. The University is growing each year, and many students are getting the chance to explore new opportunities as time progresses. Scholastically, KU is expanding in each school and offers some of best academic programs in the nation. In a category with other public schools, KU ranks among one of the top colleges in America. Beyond academics, KU provides a lot of options for students, including job opportunities, clubs, student activities, and sporting events. While some students from a large city may feel secluded, Kansas City is only an hour drive away from the University. With a great basketball team and every sports program competing in the Big 12, KU is a hot spot for college athletics. Each student is different, with varying goals in regards to college, and KU has a little of everything. In this day and age, college is increasingly expensive, and this university is relatively cheap for both Kansas residents and out-of-state students.

The unity seen at KU is unparalleled; each student feels they are a part of this University. It gives you a really special feeling to realize that you are walking on the same Jayhawk Boulevard that students walked on since 1864 and throughout both World Wars. Knowing the inventor (James Naismath) of basketball coached at this very school certainly puts KU on the map and gives students school pride. Lawrence undoubtedly has a tradition-filled college atmosphere, and students are creating their own histories on a day-to-day basis. Not many schools can offer everything that a student desires, but KU does offer every option a student needs to enjoy college life. Choosing a college is an extremely important decision, and the process is sometimes tedious. Hopefully, this book provides a different and expanded look into the University of Kansas. This guide should help you see beyond the many stereotypes of Kansas, and the University, and prove once and for all that KU is a good fit for many students, nationwide.
