Amazon.com description: Product Description: Introduction from the Author

When I first started telling people that I was going to be a student at Muhlenberg College, I typically found myself following up this response with an explanation of, “It’s a small liberal-arts college in Allentown.” I admit that I had never even heard of Muhlenberg until my best friend, now my college roommate, started telling me about the school and convinced me to attend an open house during our junior year of high school. It was during this initial visit that I fell in love with the friendly and welcoming campus that made me immediately feel like I wanted to call this place home for my four years of college. Years later, I have found that I need to use my explanation of Muhlenberg less and less as the college becomes increasingly more well known.

Over the past several years, Muhlenberg has been going through many changes that have contributed to the overall growth of the college. These changes make this an interesting time to be on campus, as you see them take place before you. While the school still prides itself on its small student to faculty ratio, the popularity of the college has been growing rapidly. Each year, the number of applicants has been increasing as more people are catching on to all of the opportunities that Muhlenberg has to offer. Some of the most visible changes have been the construction of new academic buildings, dormitories, art and theater facilities, and the renovation of the athletic center. It’s exciting to see the college grow with its students while still maintaining the same warmth and integrity that it had in the beginning.

There is a mixture of students who come to Muhlenberg: those who know exactly what they plan on doing with the rest of their lives, like the students who come in pre-med, and those who aren’t quite sure which direction they plan on going. What makes the academic experience at Muhlenberg so appealing is that it allows both of these types of people to be successful. The work is challenging; however, Muhlenberg students will tell you that the professors here are not only among the most knowledgeable in their field, but they are also extremely supportive. You will never become a number or just a face in the crowd. It is to this combination of academic excellence and personal attention that so many students attribute their decision to attend Muhlenberg.

It’s impossible to completely grasp the feeling of community and warmth of Muhlenberg by reading a book, and not everyone experiences that immediate feeling the moment they step on campus like I did. This is why it’s so important to ask yourself what you’re looking for in a college and do your research. Hopefully, this book will help you in that process as you read what current students have to say about their experiences at the ‘Berg.
