Summary
Libby Johnson's boring summer on Barry Avenue is transformed by the arrival of her new neighbor, Annie Bananie, and her dog Boris.
Amazon.com description: Product Description: Annie Bananie moves to Barry Avenue

Looks like it's going to be another boring summer for Libby Johnson on Barry Avenue. Libby knows three girls on her block, but all they like to do is pretend they're animals. Libby has a brother, but all he likes to do is bang on the piano. Libby's mother is expecting a baby boy, but Libby would rather have a dog. In fact, Libby wants a dog more than anything. But Libby's grandma Gert lives with the Johnsons, and Grandma Gert hates dogs. She says if she ever sees a dog in their house, she'll flush it down the toilet. How boring!

Until Annie Bananie moves to Barry Avenue. Besides having the best name ever, Annie Bananie has curly red hair, no siblings, and a great big dog named Boris. And Annie's not afraid to go fishing for treasures in the garbage! All the girls on Barry Avenue want to be friends with Annie Bananie, but none more than Libby Johnson.

The girls start a dog club called the Boris Avenue Beauties. Annie Bananie votes to make Libby president. But Libby is the only girl in the club who doesn't have a dog -- how can she be president of a dog club? The girls agree that Libby must do something to prove herself worthy: She must get Grandma Gert to kiss Boris on the lips! How Libby and Annie get a dog-hating granny to kiss Boris makes this a hilarious first adventure and introduces characters everyone will want to read more about.
