Die vorliegende Dissertation entstand wahrend meiner Tatigkeit als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Lehrstuhl fur Fertigungstechnologie der Friedrich-Alexander-Universitat Erlangen-Nurnberg. Die im vorliegenden Bericht behandelte Thematik erwuchs aus den Problemstellungen wahrend der Entwicklung eines Programmalgorithmus zur Simulation des Ermudungsbruch verhaltens von Umformwerkzeugen als einem der Grundbausteine des am Lehrstuhl erstell ten PSU-Programmoduls WERKZEUGVERSAGEN. Der Bericht beschrankt sich dabei nur auf den Teilaspekt der numerischen Simulation von Rissinitiierung und Oberflachenermudung und enthalt die Darstellung und Uberprufung der dafur entwickelten theoretischen Grundla gen; die erarbeiteten bruchmechanischen Grundlagen der Versagenssimulation hingegen wurden in einem weiteren Forschungsbericht zusammengefasst, der in der gleichen Berichts reihe erscheint. Fur die Moglichkeit der Bearbeitung dieses Forschungsprojektes und das mir wahrend dieser Zeit entgegengebrachte Vertrauen, die Arbeit mit einem hohen Mass von Eigenverantwort lichkeit durchfuhren zu konnen, sowie die wissenschaftliche Diskussion mochte ich an dieser Stelle Herrn Univ. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dr.h.c. M.Geiger meinen besonderen Dank aussprechen.
