Summaries and Reviews description: Product Description: 1970 reprint of a fascinating 1901 travel book detailing a trip across Russia from St. Petersburg to Moscow and thence to Vladivostok on what was then known as the Great Siberian Railway (now the Trans-Siberian Railway). The author and her mother were the first Englishwomen to make the trip and describe their adventures (which extended through to Japan and Canada) vividly. The book is interesting both for its description of pre-Revolutionary Russia, including Russia's military efforts against Manchuria, as well as the train trip itself. Illustrated with black and white photos. With foldout map in back showing route of trip.
