This text is not a basic introduction, so it assumes some degree of knowledge about Alzheimer's Disease (AD) on the part of the reader. By setting our discussion at this level, it allows us to keep readers informed of evidence-based developments in the field. We think that our text will always have a comprehensive and current bibliography for individuals who are newly entering the field of AD studies, either as clinicians, researchers, or individuals with industrial interests, as well as seasoned investigators. Although we focus on evidence-based approaches rather than on opinions, we hope that our book is useful to informed members of the public as well as to doctors and scientists. We want to balance optimism and hopefulness against the very significant challenges of understanding and treating this illness. The fact that individuals can obtain access to the online book, or purchase a single chapter or a full textbook, should add to the versatility and reflects our desire to meet individual needs.

9781405198653 | Blackwell Pub, April 12, 2011, cover price $65.99 | About this edition: Assertive Outreach in Mental Healthcare: Current Perspectives explores experiences, successes, interventions, and service user stories as well as lessons learned from the implementation experience surrounding assertive intervention.

This book will provide readers with a comprehensive guide to assessment and care planning skills in mental health and is aimed primarily at those studying to qualify as mental health nurses. The book will involve service users at every stage and therefore will enable readers to develop an understanding of the service user perspective on mental health care. Service user critiques of each section will be included to enable the reader to reflect on the diversity of experiences and their impact. The authors both teach on pre and post registration mental health nursing programmes and have identified that students often lack the skills and knowledge required to formulate collaborative care plans. Students have also identified a lack of relevant literature in this area. Because the book will be written in partnership with service users it provides an innovative approach to mental health. The emphasis on care planning will equip the reader with essential skills and knowledge to develop collaborative effective care plans.

This book tells the fascinating story of the discovery of buckminsterfullerene, a perfectly symmetrical soccer-ball shaped molecule composed of 60 carbon atoms. This new molecule, one of a large family of carbon cage molecules called "fullerenes"--represents a new form of carbon, complementing such well-known materials as diamond and graphite. Its discovery has revolutionized our understanding of carbon, once the most familiar elements. It has heralded a new chemistry, a new range of high-temperature superconductors and some marvelous new concepts in the architecture of large carbon structures. In this account, prize-winning science writer Jim Baggott tells the compelling story of buckminsterfullerene, from its natural occurrence in the cold chemistry of interstellar clouds to its accidental, stunning creation in a modern chemistry laboratory, and the subsequent development of one of today's fastest-growing scientific fields. By combining a lucid and entertaining style with scientific accuracy, the author has written a book that will appeal to general readers and chemists alike.
