Throughout their father’s twenty-two month campaign for president, Malia and Sasha Obama begged their parents for a dog. Finally, when their father became the 44th President of the United States, he rewarded their patience and good behavior in his victory speech: "Malia and Sasha will get their new puppy."Would the girls choose a Foxhound like President George Washington’s? Or a chocolate Labrador Retriever like the Clintons’? Maybe a shelter dog? Finally, on February 25, 2009, they decided to look for a Portuguese Water Dog to move into the White House. Art rendered in watercolor, gouache, and pencil.

FOR USE IN SCHOOLS AND LIBRARIES ONLY. The next book in the New York Times bestselling I Survived series will place readers right in the middle of the deadly Joplin Tornado of 2011. The 2011 Joplin tornado was a catastrophic tornado that struck Joplin, Missouri in 2011. It was part of a larger tornado outbreak in the spring of that year and reached a maximum width of nearly 1 mile during its path through the southern part of the city, killing 158 people, injuring over 1,000 and caused damages amounting to a total of $2.8 billion, making it the costliest single tornado in U.S. history. Lauren will bring her signature intensity to this distinctly American natural disaster, placing a young boy in the middle of one of the deadliest tornado to strike the United States since 1947.

Structuralism is a way of thinking based on the view that the world consists of relationships, or structures, which we create, rather than - as we have long been taught - have objective reality. The insights which this revolutionary idea can give us have so far been principally applied to linguistics and anthropology, but the structuralist approach also has implications for other fields of knowledge. At the same time structuralism has run into strong criticism from different quarters. In this important contribution to the debate, Jean-Marie Benoist provides a lucid exposition of the progress which structuralism has so far made and of the main problems which it has encountered. In particular he brings out the full philosophical implications and reveals the metaphysical obstacles with which some philosophers and structuralists have become ensnared. Jean-Marie Benoist has been a senior lecturer at the College de France in Paris since 1974. Closely associated with the "New Philosophers" and their reaction against Marxism, he has written a number of books which include 'Marx est mort,' 'Pavanne pour une Europe defunte' and 'Les nouveaux primaires.'
