This book of poems revolves around a few different themes. These include duende, which is often translated as dark, erotic, and irrational poetry that deals with death. Some of the poems explore the waking of the imaginal realm and the suffocating materialism of modern culture. Finally, some of the poems are zany and use what Robert Bly calls "leaping poetry" to address issues of manhood and fatherhood.
