Product Description: There exists a vast literature on numerical methods of linear algebra. In our bibliography list, which is by far not complete, we included some monographs on the subject [46], [15], [32], [39], [11], [21]. The present book is devoted to the theory of algorithms for a single problem of linear algebra, namely, for the problem of solving systems of linear equations with non-full-rank matrix of coefficients...read more

Elements of Continuum Mechanics and Conservation Laws presents a systematization of different models in mathematical physics, a study of the structure of conservation laws, thermodynamical identities, and connection with criteria for well-posedness of the corresponding mathematical problems. The theory presented in this book stems from research carried out by the authors concerning the formulations of differential equations describing explosive deformations of metals. In such processes, elasticity equations are used in some zones, whereas hydrodynamics equations are stated in other zones. Plastic deformations appear in transition zones, which leads to residual stresses. The suggested model contains some relaxation terms which simulate these plastic deformations. Certain laws of thermodynamics are used in order to describe and study differential equations simulating the physical processes. This leads to the special formulation of differential equations using generalized thermodynamical potentials. (view table of contents)

Product Description: This book discusses fundamental ideas of linear algebra. The author presents the spectral theory of nonselfadjoint matrix operators and matrix pencils in a finite dimensional Euclidean space. Statements of computational problems and brief descriptions of numerical algorithms, some of them nontraditional, are given...read more

Product Description: This book presents the theory of ordinary differential equations with constant coefficients. The exposition is based on ideas developing the Gelfand-Shilov theorem on the polynomial representation of a matrix exponential. Boundary value problems for ordinary equations, Green matrices, Green functions, the Lopatinskii condition, and Lyapunov stability are considered...read more
