"Crime and Punishment" is one of Fyodor Dostoyevsky's most famous novels. First published in 1866, it is the story of Rodion Romanovich Raskolnikov, an impoverished St. Petersburg ex-student who plots to kill an elderly money-lender, Alëna, and profit from her wealth. The murder however does not go as planned and Raskolnikov must suffer the disastrous moral and psychic consequences of his actions. As is common with Dostoyevsky's work, the author brilliantly explores the psychology of his characters, specifically Raskolnikov and what drives him to kill. "Crime and Punishment" is a literary masterpiece and quite simply one of the greatest novels ever written.

Anna Karenina is a novel by the Russian writer Leo Tolstoy, published in serial installments from 1873 to 1877 in the periodical The Russian Messenger. Tolstoy clashed with its editor Mikhail Katkov over issues that arose in the final installment; therefore, the novel's first complete appearance was in book form. Widely regarded as a pinnacle in realist fiction, Tolstoy considered Anna Karenina his first true novel, when he came to consider War and Peace to be more than a novel. The character of Anna was likely inspired, in part, by Maria Hartung, the elder daughter of the Russian poet Alexander Pushkin. Soon after meeting her at dinner, Tolstoy began reading Pushkin's prose and once had a fleeting daydream of "a bare exquisite aristocratic elbow", which proved to be the first intimation of Anna's character. Although Russian critics dismissed the novel on its publication as a "trifling romance of high life", Fyodor Dostoevsky declared it to be "flawless as a work of art". His opinion was shared by Vladimir Nabokov, who especially admired "the flawless magic of Tolstoy's style", and by William Faulkner, who described the novel as the best ever written.

Welcome to Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s The Possessed. In this edition of this novel, first published in 1872, we are proud to offer you the best edition of this literary masterpiece featuring one of the most acclaimed classics of all times. The Possessed, also known as Demons, or The Devils, and is an anti-nihilistic novel by Fyodor Dostoyevsky, first published in the journal The Russian Messenger in 1871-2. An extremely political book, The Possessed is a testimonial of life in Imperial Russia in the late 19th century. As the revolutionary democrats began to rise in Russia, different ideologies began to collide. Fyodor Dostoyevsky casts a critical eye over both the radical idealists, portraying their ideas and ideological foundations as demonic, and the conservative establishment, portraying its ineptitude in dealing with those ideas and their social consequences. Many of the characters represent different types within this ideological conflict. By exploring their interactions, Fyodor Dostoyevsky depicts the political chaos seen in 19th-century Russia. Enjoy this Mogul Classics edition of Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s The Possessed.
