This book represents a big change in genre for Doyle. It deals with a French Hugenaut family in the late 17th Century. It involves the court intrigue of Paris, a perilous cross of the Atlantic to Canada, capture by the church authorities in Quebec and a battle and siege with the Iroquois Indians on the Richelieu River. It is a true adventure story. It was good easy read and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good adventure story.
