Structuralism is a way of thinking based on the view that the world consists of relationships, or structures, which we create, rather than - as we have long been taught - have objective reality. The insights which this revolutionary idea can give us have so far been principally applied to linguistics and anthropology, but the structuralist approach also has implications for other fields of knowledge. At the same time structuralism has run into strong criticism from different quarters. In this important contribution to the debate, Jean-Marie Benoist provides a lucid exposition of the progress which structuralism has so far made and of the main problems which it has encountered. In particular he brings out the full philosophical implications and reveals the metaphysical obstacles with which some philosophers and structuralists have become ensnared. Jean-Marie Benoist has been a senior lecturer at the College de France in Paris since 1974. Closely associated with the "New Philosophers" and their reaction against Marxism, he has written a number of books which include 'Marx est mort,' 'Pavanne pour une Europe defunte' and 'Les nouveaux primaires.'

Can Cameron find what he’s looking for?All 16-year-old Cameron wants is to get through high school—and life in general—with a minimum of effort. It’s not a lot to ask. But that’s before he’s given some bad news: he’s sick and he’s going to die. Which totally sucks. Hope arrives in the winged form of Dulcie, a loopy punk angel/possible hallucination with a bad sugar habit. She tells Cam there is a cure—if he’s willing to go in search of it. With the help of a death-obsessed, video-gaming dwarf and a yard gnome, Cam sets off on the mother of all road trips through a twisted America into the heart of what matters most.
