Summaries and Reviews
Amazon.com description: Product Description: There is a continual need on the part of professionals, businessmen and individuals to have official and private documents legalized for use in other countries. This need has been fuelled in recent years by an increase in the number of new states in eastern Europe and elsewhere, and by the growth in international business. Such documents include distributorship agreements, deeds of assignment and statements of marital status, all of which must be legalized. But widespread ignorance about legalization procedures frequently causes delays in concluding international business. This handbook seeks to provide assistance for those needing to legalize documents for use in other countries. It provides an understading of the issues involved in international legalization, along with original text of the 1961 Hague Convention on the Authentication of Foreign Documents. It sets out, in an alphabetically listed, country-by-country guide, procedures to be followed when dealing with both signatories and non-signatories. Each of the 205 country chapters follows one of two formats, depending on whether or not the country in question is a signatory to The Hague Convention. Those countries and jurisdictions which are parties to the Convention are identified in an appendix to the book. General information relating to each country, such as national holidays, capital city and languages spoken, is provided and useful addresses are also supplied.
