Although the textbook images are remarkably clear for printed matter, the CD images are closer to the original source. Annotations (dotted and solid lines, arrows, etc.) can be deleted and restored; the images can be enlarged or reduced. This may assist in understanding individual examples and learning image interpretation. And, not trivially, the CD is much lighter and more portable than the actual text. Like the text, the images were not otherwise enhanced so that they are as close to the original image as possible - artifacts and all; and the grey scale has not been changed.
