Summaries and Reviews
Amazon.com description: Product Description: Act of Evil relates a bizarre tale surrounding the murders of three women. The connecting link, the trial and acquittal of one on a charge of emasculating her husband, his subsequent suicide, plus that of his mother. Detective Teri Harmon, 39 and divorced, is aided by suggestions from semi-retired psychiatrist Dr. Shelby Martin, 62 and a widower. Teri falls in love with Shelby (Shell to friends) but he's captivated by stunning Marian Barlow, unattached, 50, and the most influential woman in the county. Barlow, as chairperson of the Women's Defense League, pressures Teri and the police to find the man responsible for the killings before more women fall victim. The case leads Teri from the San Joaquin Valley, to San Francisco and its lesbian world, and back again, with a side trip to Texas. In a bizarre denouement, Teri rescues Shell from his own folly.
