Summaries and Reviews
Amazon.com description: Product Description: This tome contains the full firsthand account of the wars of Julius Caesar written in a third-person narrative. The first part is Commentarii de Bello Gallico (Commentaries on the Gallic War), in which Caesar describes the battles and intrigues that took place in the nine years he spent fighting local armies in Gaul that opposed Roman domination. In the second part, Commentarii de Bello Civili (Commentaries on the Civil War), or Bellum Civile, Julius Caesar writes of his war against Gnaeus Pompeius and the Senate. It closes with Pompey assassinated, Caesar attempting to mediate rival claims to the Egyptian throne, and the beginning of the Alexandrian War. The last part, Commentarii de Bello Alexandrino, Africo et Hispaniensi (Commentaries on the Alexandrian, African and Spanish Wars), is an account attributed to Julius Caesar of his final campaigns.
