He wrote numerous books on German literature, language, history and philosophy, in particular, his essays on Friedrich Nietzsche, whom he personally visited in 1898. Lichtenberger maintained a lively correspondence with Nietzsche’s sister Elisabeth Förster-Nietzsche, who translated our book into German, published in 1899.
