He served in the Military Police during World War II, flew fighter interceptors in Korea, and, finally, participated in 17 missions in Vietnam as an instructor pilot. Fisher performed all the Category One testing on the B-52G and H models and was known as a superbly competent test pilot. Among the SAC crews he flew with, trained, and helped, he was called "Mr. B-52."
