Summaries and Reviews
Amazon.com description: Product Description: This book, the third in the series, reviews the use of antidotes to paracetamol poisoning. Paracetamol, or acetaminophen, is involved in a large proportion of all poisoning incidents. The introductory chapter discusses the management of paracetamol poisoning, including the factors influencing its toxicity, and compares the efficacy of, and indications for the use of, supportive care and specific antidotal therapy. The following chapters then discuss the two antidotes, methionine and N-acetylcysteine, in detail. Subjects covered include: physico-chemical properties of the antidotes; analytical methods; animal and volunteer studies; and the results of clinical studies. The indications, advised route, dosage and restrictions relating to each antidote are summarised at the end of each chapter.
